Home pitch advantage for Elite Round hopefull Slovenia

Slovenian Under17 team is in the centre of attention at National football centre Brdo, with the Under17 tournament set to start on Wednesday. Slovenia, Austria, Bulgaria and Malta will duke it out for the two positions that guarantee the Elite Round.

Slovenia Under17 head coach Igor Benedejčič has quite a history as far as gaining promotion goes. He has been quite regularly featuring in the Elite rounds, even managing a qualification to European Championship on one occassion.

»We play at home, so it's obvious that we want to proceed into the Elite round. That would be great for this generation of players, as the players would gewt three more quality games on an international level,« Benedejčič said ahead of assembling his squad.

Slovenia has been getting good results in the build up to the tournament, defeating Croatia on two occasions. Benedejčič says Austria is a small favorite, but: »The group is quite on the same level, with Austria maybe a small favorite based on the roster. But we shouldn't forget the other two teams as well. Malta has been getting some good results in this age category

Slovenia will start off thier campaign against Bulgaria on Wednesday at 15:00 at NFC Brdo.
