Austria started the Under17 tournament with a statement as they defeated Malta with 7:0. Demir and Zimmermann of to a flying start with two goals each.

Austria started the qualifiers in Slovenia powerfully, scoring the first goal of the tournament after 16 minutes of the opening game. Braunoder made it 1:0, while man of the match Demir doubled the lead two minutes later. By the half time it was 3:0 with Demir scoring his second in the 42nd minute.
Demir was the main threat in at the start of the second half as well as he assisted for Zimmermann for the fourth goal of Austria. Zimmerman was on target again in the 69th for 5:0, while Austria added two more by the end of the game. Kochl scored in the 88th to make it 6:0, with Pehlivan adding the last goal in the 90th for the final result – 7:0.
Austria will play the next game on the 27th of October at 11:00 against Bulgaria, while Malta will play Slovenia on the same day at 15:00.
